It was a Christmas night out in 2012 which sparked Sinead O’Sullivan and Eamonn Delaney’s initial romance. The pair swapped numbers and spent the festive season exchanging texts until their first date just before the new year. Six years later, Eamonn proposed to Sinead in Lough Derg, Co. Clare. “I was sick over Christmas which halted Eamonn’s original plan to propose on the anniversary of our first date. Instead, he proposed on New Years’ Day. It came as a complete surprise to me,” Sinead recalls. Of course, Sinead said yes and September 15, 2018 was selected as the wedding date with a ceremony in Martinstown Church followed by a reception in Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare.

Memorable moments

“Eamonn has sneakily given my sister Oonagh a beautiful bunch of flowers, a hand written letter and a wedding gift to give to me on the morning of the wedding. My niece snuck them into my room while I was getting my hair done. When I read his touching letter I was in tears, and the perfume he gave me always reminds me of that moment,” Sinead reveals. For Eamonn, the couple’s drive to their wedding reception is a highlight. “It was an opportunity for us to enjoy the calm and reflect on the morning. We sipped some champagne and were just happy to be there in the moment,” Eamonn adds.

Personal touches

Sinead’s cousin and aunt made the couple’s wedding cake, which Sinead lovingly describes as “three tiers of perfection”. Sinead also reveals she added some DIY embellishments to her veil. “I pimped my veil to add interest. I was worried that it would be too plain, so I got decorative trim, cut out individual flowers and stuck them onto the veil,” she explains. Sinead also explains that she got a bouquet memory charm which included a photograph of her late mother, and the bride also lit a candle at the alter in her memory.

How was your experience with Ciara O’Donnell Photography?

“We met with Ciara prior to the wedding day which was great for discussing what we wanted. Ciara spent ages with us at my home, and we also checked out the church and a few outdoor locations. We did a rough run-through of the day which was invaluable because on the actual day we knew exactly where to go and how much time we needed. Ciara was so calm and in control, even with the madness going on around her. She had a little kit with hair pins, wet wipes and tissues for my dress which was brilliant. She was brilliant to deal with and we absolutely loved the photos – the biggest problem now is narrowing the selection down to just 30 for the wedding album!”
