Nurse Ann-Marie McCannon and electrician Mark Holland first met in 2010 and after five years of dating, Mark felt it was time to pop the question during a family day out with the couple’s son Nathan, and of course, Anne-Marie said yes. August 3, 2018 was the chosen wedding day with a ceremony in St John’s Church followed by the reception in Earl of Desmond Hotel in Tralee.
Anne-Marie and Mark both cherish the memory of celebrating their day with family and friends who had travelled from various counties and countries to be present for their big day. They also noted their first dance has husband and wife as a highlight of their day. “We wouldn’t change a thing about the day. Everything turned out better than we could have imagined Celebrating the day surrounded by our loved ones meant so much to us,” Anne-Marie says.
Ann-Marie chose to walk up the aisle to her dad’s favourite ballad. “It was very emotional, not just for me but for my family too. It was a very special moment for me, and I had pictures of parents pinned to my bouquet which I held close to my heart,” she explains. During the ceremony, Anne-Marie lit candles with her sister Gemma in memory of their loved ones who were not present.
How was your experience with the Earl of Desmond Hotel?
“We cannot thank Norella, Mark and all the wonderful staff of the Earl of Desmond Hotel enough for making our wedding day so special. Norella, the wedding coordinator, is absolutely amazing at her job. From day one we were greeted with a big smile, she made us feel so at ease and we knew we were in great hands! Professional to the highest standard, the food was exceptional and the staff were very polite and friendly. Our wedding day was so relaxed and our guests are still talking about how much they enjoyed their stay in the hotel. The Earl of Desmond has everything and more you could want for your wedding day. Many of the best memories of from our day are in that venue and we thank the team of the Earl of Desmond Hotel for giving us this opportunity.”
